FAMILY RESOURCES

Mercy Hill Kids exists to equip parents and develop leaders to engage kids with the gospel.

The Bible says in Psalm 78, “We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might, and the wonders that he has done.” All throughout Scripture, parents are given the responsibility to pass on the gospel story to their children.

What story is your family telling? What is the overarching story that your kids are seeing played out in your home? How are you creating opportunities for these grand stories of God’s work to be told? Based on your familial habits what story do your children see as important?

It’s our desire as the church to come alongside of you and help you answer those questions in a way that reflects the Bible’s call on our life as parents. The following is meant to be a tool to help you, as the parent, develop healthy habits for family discipleship. As you think about the various facets of the Christian life – it’s our hope to provide suggestions, resources, and a guide to find what fits best for leading your family in each of those areas.

Family Discipleship Guide

In the busyness of life, we often want to train our kids to become disciples but we either struggle to find the time, or we aren’t sure exactly what it looks like. We understand that this is something that we want to excel at so that our kids are equipped to live out the gospel through their childhood and into their adult life. In light of this, we are providing a basic framework for family discipleship.

Sometimes new things are difficult to start, so we encourage families to think through not the next ten steps, but what the one next step is for their family to see their kids raised to follow Jesus. Our guide is designed to help you identify and take that step.

Don’t forget to check out the kids resources in our “More Resources” section below, as you can incorporate those resources in your Family Worship times. We also encourage you to check out these books about family worship:

MH Kids Worship

MH Kids worship is filled with engaging gospel-centered music and motions that kids get so excited about! We want kids to see the joy in praising Jesus and do it with their whole hearts. We know parents want the same, and we want to give you the opportunity to sing worship songs with your kids at home. The MH Kids playlist is available on Youtube by clicking the link below and includes worship videos for the songs your kids love every weekend. We encourage you to play them in the car or in your living room and sing at the top of your lungs for the glory of God!

Gospel Conversations

At Mercy Hill, we are passionate about seeing kids place faith in Jesus! We are excited to offer our Gospel Conversation Guide, written by our Kids Staff, as a tool for you to use. The first part of this guide focuses on having ongoing conversations about the gospel with your kids, while the second part helps you walk your child through making a commitment to Christ. We hope you will download it by clicking the button below, or swing by the Family Resource Center at your campus to pick up a hard copy.

Equipping Kids to Share the Gospel

Parents, on the weekends your kids are learning these gospel hand motions to be equipped to share the gospel in their neighborhoods and schools. We encourage you to check it out and practice at home!

Baptisms

Gospel Conversations are a launching pad for God to do a work in your child’s heart in a way that they would place faith in Christ. We encourage you to utilize the Gospel Conversation Guide to, as best as possible, determine if your child has placed faith in Christ. If you believe your child has made this decision, we want to celebrate with you! Your child’s next step is to proclaim their faith in Jesus publicly through baptism. Click here to submit a form for baptism, and a kids staff member will reach out to you to set up a time for baptism counseling.

More Resources

If you were to ask any parent if they wanted to parent well, the obvious answer is going to be yes, but the next question usually is about how we do that. Many of us have the desire, but often we don’t know where to begin. We want to help you by providing resources to equip you with effective parenting. We’ve broken these blogs, books, and videos down into sections so that you may choose what is relevant to your family and the stage of life that your kids are in. Please click the images below for a list of relevant resources. If there are areas that you would like more information about or are not listed on this page, feel free to email us.
