Groups Team Leader

Groups Team Leaders invest not only in students, but also in their teams, in order to help team members minister effectively to students each week. Team Leaders are held accountable for their assigned small group of Mercy Hill Students. This includes creating a hospitable and positive small group environment, creating a culture of discussion, accountability, and prayer among the group, leading games, and intentionally connecting with students. Groups Team Leaders are also expected to develop team members, ensuring they are equipped to engage students on a weekly basis.

Team Leader Competencies

Facilitate teaching and discussion in a way that presents the gospel and engages each student
Ensure you and your team members are effectively implementing programming
Identify and develop emerging volunteer leaders
Communicate with parents in a way that conveys the vision of Mercy Hill Students
Create a culture of community within your small group (both with leaders and students)

Time Commitment: 6-8 hours each week

Groups Team Members

Groups Team Members make Mercy Hill Students great every week for students by intentionally interacting with students at our events. This includes working together with other volunteers to create a hospitable and positive small group environment, assist in creating a culture of discussion, accountability, and prayer among the group, lead games, and intentionally connect with students.

Team Member Competencies

Be present, prompt, and prepared
Communicate clearly and respectfully with staff and leaders
Initiate positive interactions with students
Understand and apply Mercy Hill Students Policies and Procedures
Shoulder-tap others to join the Student Team

Time Commitment: 3-5 hours per week

PARENT COMMISSIONING

Why Parent Commissioning?

We believe that God has called parents to be the primary disciple-makers in their home, and Parent Commissioning is the first step of our church partnering with parents to raise up their kids to follow after Christ. Whether you are a new parent through adoption or birth, or a parent that’s newer to Mercy Hill, we desire to partner with you to raise your kids to follow Jesus. Through this event, we desire to celebrate the blessing of kids, explain to parents the important role they play in making disciples of their kids, and offer parents tools for the journey.

The goal of Parent Commissioning is to begin a partnership between the church and home.

Parent Commissioning is for any family who calls Mercy Hill home. Whether you are a new parent through birth or adoption or just got plugged into Mercy Hill with kids of any age, this event is for you!

Parent Commissioning takes place twice a year and is really a two-part event. On Saturday, our goal is to focus on equipping and resourcing you as parents. You will hear from one of our pastors on the role parents play in their child’s spiritual development and how we, as a church, desire to partner with you along the way. Then, you will hear from a panel of parents who will discuss practical tips and stories on how to best set up family discipleship rhythms in all stages of your kids’ lives. You will also receive resources to get you started in discipling your children! We will provide a light breakfast, coffee, and childcare for your children at the campus.

The second part takes place on Sunday, at whichever campus and service you wish to attend. There you and your children will be asked to come up to the stage at the end of the service to be prayed over by the church. We will have photographers there who will take photos of you, your family, and any invited guests after the church service for you to remember the day!

We pray this even will be a starting point and milestone of your commitment to parent as a follower of Jesus in the years to come!

Expectations

Due to the commitment that the church is making to commission parents, we do have a few expectations of those who would join us for Parent Commissioning:



Parent Commissioning differs from baby dedication in that the focus is the commissioning of the parents/guardians to disciple their children. Because of this, it’s not necessary to attend the event each time your family grows. However, feel free to attend again if you feel it would be a good time to recommit in making disciples of your kids.



Parents are asked to attend both the Saturday and Sunday portions of Parent Commissioning.



On Sunday, parents are welcome to place their kids in Mercy Hill Kids and pick them up towards the end of service for Parent Commissioning.
