Leveraging Your Whole Life – 3 Resources

I’ve gotten a decent amount of positive feedback from this last week’s sermon already. Praise God! I think the story of Caleb from Joshua 14 strikes a chord with us because we know deep down that even though we are aging, the mission of God never gets old. Part of the joy of Christianity is that there is always another hill to take for his kingdom. Our last years can be our best years for impact if we commit to leveraging our resources, which generally grow with age. While it’s not a promise, wise living tends to lead us to more relationships, more margin with time, and more wealth (generally speaking of course). These things can be used for greater kingdom movement as we grow. If you want to go a little deeper into what it looks like to grow your impact as God grows your age, consider a few books as resources.

1. Younique, Will Mancini

This book introduced me to the concept of bio line and impact line. It also pushes us to accept nothing less than the Ephesians 2:10 life that God specifically had prepared for us since before the world began.

2. Halftime, Bob Buford

This is a timeless book about moving from chasing success to significance. Here is a sobering question: what do you want your epitaph to say? That’s a question that we should be returning to no matter what season of life we are in!

3. Don’t Waste Your Life, John Piper

I mentioned that God used 7 minutes of a John Piper sermon to change the trajectory of a generation. As a young man in college at the time, I believe that is literally true. The message was simple: don’t waste your life.
