Christians across America are examining the thoughts surrounding the Roe v. Wade decision. Many asking questions like, “What should I pray for about Roe v. Wade?” and “What is the Christian response to Roe v. Wade?” While we certainly can’t know what the future holds, we can and should always be running to Scripture and bringing our request to the Lord.
Psalm 139:13-16 says,
13 For you formed my inward parts;
you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you,
when I was being made in secret,
intricately woven in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance;
in your book were written, every one of them,
the days that were formed for me,
when as yet there was none of them.
A prayer from Pastor Andrew as the court finalizes its decision over the next couple of months:
Father, in light of my constant prayer for you to end abortion in our generation, I pray that you give this court resolve. Give them the backbone to do what is right in your eyes. The Spirit of fear concerning the backlash of disapproval and civil unrest must be palpable for them. Give them what they need at this moment.
I pray you will continue to mobilize our church to meet young mothers and fathers in their moment of need. Making abortion illegal doesn’t take away the hopelessness people can feel with an unplanned pregnancy. May we be a shining light and a beacon of hope to the fearful and broken-hearted. I pray you specifically do this through mobilizing our people to give their time, talent, and treasure to ministries like The Pregnancy Network. Will you connect our people by divine appointment to people in our city who are in desperate need.
May we be a shining light and a beacon of hope to the fearful and broken-hearted.
Please give our church not only the voice of a prophet but the heart of a priest. Let us feel the weight of brokenness surrounding these issues. By your Spirit, help us stand for truth with a heart filled with love. And as these issues come to the forefront of culture, may you remind those Christians who have walked through abortion of your immense grace and love for them.
