“Christ in (us), the hope of glory.” (Colossians 1:27) That reality is meant to mean something and do something in us on Monday and Tuesday and every other day. But this world is loud. People and their opinions are loud. My house is loud. Literally. If I’m not purposefully living a gospel-centered, Christ-focused life, then the loudness pulls me in like a demanding vacuum. Before I consciously know what hit me, I’m left meditating on lies about my Lord, my future, and my identity in Him. Then I usually eat lots of Doritos. It ain’t pretty.
Jesus told us that He came to give abundant life. (John 10:10) Yet so many times we live a defeated existence, marked by fear and worry and insecurity. But the Father has more for His children. Regardless of circumstance, if we have come into a relationship with God through Christ, then we can courageously, confidently walk our days in the soul-abundance Jesus gives. He can empower us to live a life marked by the peace and hope and joy found only in Him.
We as Christ-followers need a BIG, robust view of the implications of the gospel on our everyday lives so that when this world tempts our hearts, we’re standing firm in the identity that God declares of us.
Join us for a night of dessert, coffee, and encouragement, Saturday, October 18th from 6-8 p.m. at Mercy Hill Church. Women of all ages are welcome. Sorry guys, no men allowed…unless you come bearing chocolate. If you’re interested in attending, just fill out the form below!
