I love Thanksgiving! This is one holiday that I look forward to all year long. Thanksgiving combines so many things that I am passionate about: Fall, football, food, time specifically designated to be with family, the list could go on and on. This season pushes us to be thankful for the blessings we have in this life. As cliché as it is, I would love to take some time here to list out and praise God for the many things we have seen at Mercy Hill Church over the last couple months.
Since the launch of Mercy Hill Church in September we have already seen over 300 people attend at least once! For us this number is incredible given the growth strategy of our church is people inviting people…period. Up to this point we haven’t marketed anything. There have been no mailers, no radio ads, and nothing advertising us on Facebook (not to say we will never do that!). My point is, God has been faithful, as we have been faithful to share with friends and co-workers. The news about what He is doing is going forth in Greensboro through people, which has been our vision all along.
Another thing we are thankful for are the folks we have seen come to Christ and also the baptisms we have been a part of. It is very special to see folks coming to Christ and making a decision for him for the very first time. It is also special to see people submit to the lordship of Christ in Baptism. We praise God that we have already seen a couple people come to Christ and 8 baptisms just 2 months into our public services!
At Mercy Hill we place an extremely high value on community groups. We believe that true discipleship happens in strong relationships with other believers. As of right now we have about 100 people meaningfully involved in the community group structure at our church and we praise God for it! We also praise God for the people in our congregation that are moving from attenders to members. In our first membership dinner last month we had over 30 people attend and we expect the same for the one coming up in a couple weeks.
Honestly, this list could go on and on! We thank God for the generosity we have seen from the congregation thus far, the leaders he is bringing us for community groups and worship, the unbelievers in our congregation that feel comfortable enough to keep coming back…and on and on. God is truly at work and we thank and praise Him for all He is doing in our midst!
