The Gospel Changes Everything | Day 1

March 30, 2026

When you think about God’s power, what comes to mind? Maybe how He controls the forces of nature – waterfalls, hurricanes, and ocean tides. Maybe how He created the vastness and wonders of the universe by simply speaking, “Let there be…”. Maybe how He establishes and deposes earthly kingdoms and rulers.

“For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”1 Corinthians 1:18

1 Corinthians 1:18 tells us that God’s power is most clearly demonstrated in the gospel. “The word of the cross” is the message of God’s salvation through Jesus’s death in our place and for our sins. God exerted His power on our behalf. Many do not understand this power. They prefer to rely on human ingenuity. To trust themselves rather than God. But when we trust what Jesus has done for us, it not only changes our eternity but our everyday lives.

Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians is all about how the gospel changes our lives:

  • The gospel changes our ambitions and our relationships.
  • The gospel influences our dating and marriages.
  • The gospel impacts how we go about legal disputes and church gatherings.
  • The gospel changes the way we treat our physical bodies and even changes the way we think about eating food.

What we celebrate, strive for and hope for are all changed by the gospel. It is God’s power for our lives.
