James 1:27 makes it very clear that every Christian has a role to play in caring for the orphan:
“Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.”
So again I ask, “how” is God calling you to serve the orphan. While I am not able to fully answer that question for you, I can provide a definitive way to begin the quest for the answer…
Get involved, try out various areas of ministry, and see how God shapes your heart!
Mercy Hill provides numerous avenues by which you can begin to discern how God wants to use you in ministry to the orphaned child. Advocacy (speaking up for them to raise awareness), guardian ad-litem, foster care, adoption, international ministry teams, child sponsorship, foster/adoptive parent support, and intentional/specific prayer are just a few ways areas that we want to help you with explore.
Whether you have adopted 10 children from various corners of the world, served in an orphanage, babysat adopted/fostered children, sponsored a child, prayed for orphans, or don’t know where to start; we would love for you to join us on Friday February 27that 7pm for our first 2015 Mercy Hill Orphan Care Ministry meeting.
