Our Need, A Spoken Word Piece

This past weekend we celebrated Christ’s birth by having “A Mercy Hill Christmas”. It was such as exciting time! We had an incredible service with 6 baptisms and the highest attendance in our short history (including the Launch!). Among all the awesome service elements was a spoken word piece by one of our members, Gary. It really was a powerful moment in the service and so we thought it best to share his words. The piece is written specifically to show our collective need for a Savior. We hope you enjoy and reflect upon these written words.

Our Need (is YOU)

Woe is me!

Woe is me!

Where two or more are gathered

In Your Holy Name…

You are here among us.

Woe are we!

Woe are we!

Highest Majesty of majesty

Unworthy are we to converse

In the presence of Your dwelling.

Even so, Your invitation persisted.

A pressing prevalence existed.

For You have made Yourself be known.

Without You,

Our need is unknown,

So without You

We know not our need.

Within You we know what Gabriel

Foretold to the soon to be pregnant virgin Mary,

And we know the original plan of the just man named Joseph

And his eventual re-adjusted response.

Within You all of Your servants have,

Exactly what You gave to us…

You!

And with You in us we speak like Mary with You in her we say

The Magnificat:

“My soul magnifies the Lord,

And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,

For He has looked on the humble estate of His servant.

For behold, from now on all generations will call us blessed;

For He who is mighty has done great things for us,

And Holy is His name.

And His mercy is for those who fear him

From generation to generation.

He has shown strength with His arm;

He has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts;

He has brought down the mighty from their thrones

And exalted those of humble estate;

He has filled the hungry with good things,

And the rich He has sent away empty.

He has helped His servantIsrael,

In remembrance of His mercy,

As He spoke to our Fathers,

To Abraham and to his offspring forever.

Woe are we!

Woe are we!

O’ Worthy Savior Lamb.

Your promises overflow with abundance!

Woe are we!

Your works are just so magnificent!

Woe are we!

Why did we doubt You have come?!

From the realm of Your Heaven,

Into the realm of Your Earth;

A baby You became

To show mankind humility’s worth.

And Now Good News Has come!

Good News of Great Joy

For all people.

You came to show of Your goodness

So we would know of our evil.

Now we’re in awe of You!

In awe of Your Greatness, For us

You chose to be humbled;

Since in the choices we’re making

We’re choosing only to stumble

Your Kingdom freed us all

Our independence came through You

But You chose to be dependent.

You were foretold in this world

That You’d be David’s descendant.

You are The Word of God!

Visible image of God-

The One who existed.

Since the beginning of All

You were with the Father uplifted

You are The Holy Lord!

The Plan of the Planner

Begotten Son of The Father.

Before The fall had occurred,

Your throne knew of Your Departure.

You are our only Hope!

The Gift of The Father-

Sent for the heart of the sinner.

Our works cant keep us reminded,

You gave us You to remember.

You are the Lord of Lords!

We’re begging for leaders

While we’re refusing to worship

Please make Your Spirit our Teacher

So with whole hearts we will serve You!

Our Great and Righteous King!

Almighty in Glory

Omnipotent and All Worthy.

You are the Wisdom of God.

You took on Flesh and our worries

Who could do what You’ve Done?!

No One!

Cause none like You are perfect.

Who could give life to a person-

By trading Worth for the worthless?

Your Splendid Matchless Name!

Our sinful tongues should not utter;

We can’t explain of Your fame.

Only Your Word can speak for You-

And that’s why Our God, You came!

You’re the Anointed One!

The oil of our souls,

Cleansing our hearts and our minds.

Drowning in sin we were darkened.

Drowning in You we were shined.

There is no One like You!

Freed us-

From all of our transgressions

And made us speak of Your Honor

And Give You all of the blessing.

The Everlasting Light!

Your Light came to the dark

To fill us up with The Light

King on the frontline You were

And You were ready to fight.

You are the Holy Warrior!

You fought all our battles-

You went toCalvaryfor us-

Now we Your Army adopted-

And we are cavalry for You.

We’re Sanctified in You!

O’ Lord

The horror of us sinning against.

You are our Maker, Redeemer,

Our only line of defense.

You are the Faithful God!

The culture we’re in teaches to

To believe in ourselves?

Your Spirit teaches to trust You

Whether in good or bad health.

You are the Good Shepherd!

So we’re not seeking to prosper

And we’re not seeking no wealth.

We’re only seeking to follow,

King Jesus! You are our help

You are the Bread of Life!

O’ Lord You’ve steadied our souls

And made our foundation firm

And of Your Joy and Steadfast Love now

You have willed us to learn

You are our Greatest Need!

TheSummitof Mercy

The Hill and Chapel of Peace.

You are enormously Worthy

Jesus You made us to see,

That the Creator of Flesh

Chose to become His Creation

Knowing that only His Righteousness

Would give us salvation

Lord All we need is You!

Glory to Your Holy Name!

Glory to Your Holy Name!

For Christmas we have You!

Our Need…
