Original Song Debut: So We Pray

This Sunday when we gather as a church we will be singing a brand new song entitled “So We Pray” by our very own Mercy Hill Worship.  To help you prepare for our time of worship together, read this short reflection on Romans 8 and muse over the lyrics to our new song:

Romans 8:18-26

18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. 19 For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. 20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. 23 And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. 26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.

We live in a broken world. The reality of this is all around us – sometimes overwhelming us. But it is here in our messiness, our yearning and our weakness that God meets us. His Spirit even comes to our aid to help us connect with Him through the fog. We need not rest in our own strength to overcome the world. We have a Father who is greater than the world.  He has overcome the world.  He will restore the world.  He is with us and for us!  Let us run to Him.

So We Pray by Mercy Hill Worship

In the chaos, in the weakness

What could stand in Your way?

You are with us, you are for us

There is nothing too great

Pre Chorus

For you are greater still

Yes, You are greater still

So we pray, for you are great

Lord of all, God who saves

There is power in your name

So we pray

Verse 2

You are faithful, you are able

In the sorrow, in the pain

You are healing, You are saving

We will call on Your name

We are broken, we are desperate

We are crying out

Abba Father, You are stronger

You are reaching out
