Messiah | Day 25

December 24, 2025

The word Messiah means, “Anointed One” and points to the One that God promised to send! For generations people were waiting for someone to come that would fix what was broken, heal what was hurting, and rescue those were lost, because of sin. They weren’t waiting for a helper, they were waiting for THE One. The Savior.

Simon Peter replied, ‘You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God.Matthew 16:16

In Matthew 16, Peter confesses that Jesus is the Messiah that the people had been waiting for! This is a big deal! Peter calling Jesus the “Messiah” is him telling everyone that Jesus is the fulfillment of everything everyone had been waiting on. That He is the answer to the world’s biggest problem and the deepest pains they had been dealing with. That He was the one who didn’t just come to patch up our pain, but to make all things new!

In a world of pain there are many places people turn to for hope: success, money, people, etc., but none of them will ever satisfy. Only Jesus can and does!

Jesus is the Messiah, he is the Savior, He is the one who is able to bring people from death to life and He proved that with his life, death, and resurrection!

This Christmas season we celebrate His birth, but we remember that He was born to die, for the sins of all of us, and that He conquered death so that we can live.

Reflection Question

  • Where in your life have you looked for hope other that Jesus?

Prayer

Jesus, thank You for being the true Messiah, the One who came to save us, redeem us, and bring us into a new life with You. Help us stop chasing hope in things that can’t deliver, and teach us to trust You fully as the Savior we need.

Family Activity (Optional)

Building Towers: Take turns building a simple “tower” out of blocks, cups, or anything stackable. Make one tower on a flimsy base (like a pillow) and another on a solid base (like the floor or a table). Then gently shake the base or blow on the towers. Only the one with a firm foundation stands. Talk about how we often build our lives on “flimsy messiahs” that can’t hold us up—but Jesus, the true Messiah, is the solid foundation we can trust.
