Image of the Invisible God | Day 10

December 9, 2025

Have you ever tried to describe someone you’ve never seen? It’s hard, isn’t it? God is spirit — we can’t see Him with our eyes. So how can we know what He’s like?

That’s exactly why Jesus came.

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.Colossians 1:15

During Jesus’s ministry, His friend Philip once asked him, “Lord, show us the Father.” Jesus answered with something amazing: “Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father” (John 14:9). Jesus wasn’t just teaching about God. He was showing us who God is.

Imagine trying to explain love to someone who has never experienced it. You could use lots of words, or you could simply show them love through your actions. Jesus is God showing us Himself through action.

  • When Jesus healed the sick, we saw God’s compassion.
  • When He welcomed children, we saw God’s tenderness.
  • When He forgave those who hurt Him, we saw God’s mercy.

John tells us, “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory” (John 1:14). The invisible became visible. The unknowable became someone we could know.

This changes everything. When others ask, “What is God like?”, point them to Jesus. When you wonder if God truly cares about your struggles, look at how Jesus treated hurting people. He is the perfect picture of our Heavenly Father.

Reflection Question

  • What is one thing Jesus did that shows us what God is like?
  • How does knowing Jesus help us trust God, even when we can’t see Him?

Prayer

Thank You, Father, for sending Jesus so we could see Your heart. When we look at Him, we see Your love, Your kindness, and Your grace. Help us know You more as we follow Him each day. Draw us closer to You as we learn to trust what we cannot see. Amen.

Family Activity (Optional):

Drawing the Invisible: Give each person paper and ask them to draw something invisible (like wind, love, or music). Talk about how we know invisible things are real by what they do, and how Jesus showed us the invisible God through His actions.
