Everlasting Father | Day 15

December 14, 2025

We live in a world of temporary things. Seasons, fashions, toys, and technology come and go from our lives. We are created to long for eternity, but we live in a world full of the temporary.

Isaiah writes during a dark time in Israel’s history, roughly 700 years before Jesus would come to earth. In the middle of dark times, Isaiah teaches about a Savior and King who would come and rule like an Everlasting Father.

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” – Isaiah 9:6

What does this mean? It means that one day those who trust Jesus will get what they want most – Christ ruling forever like a good parent. This doesn’t mean that Jesus is God the Father but that He will care for us like one: strong, steady, and full of compassion. He does not change, He does not leave, and He is everlasting.

That’s good news for weary hearts. When people disappoint us or when life feels unstable, we can rest in the hands of a Father who never let’s go. The child born in Bethlehem didn’t just come to save us from sin; He came to bring us into a family that will last forever.

So, this Christmas, take comfort in knowing that you are loved by a King whose care doesn’t expire. His love doesn’t waver with time or circumstance. He is the Everlasting Father.

Reflection Question

  • What does it mean to you personally that Jesus’ care and presence will never run out?

Prayer

Jesus, thank You for being my Everlasting Father. When life feels uncertain, remind me that Your love never fades and Your care never stops. Help me rest in that truth today. Amen.

Family Activity (Optional):

Gather a few items that don’t last long: like a leaf, toy, or lightbulb. Talk about how each one eventually fades or breaks. Then read Isaiah 9:6 and ask, “What about Jesus lasts forever?” Write or say answers like His love, forgiveness, and care. End by thanking Jesus together for being your Everlasting Father whose love never runs out.
