Mercy Hill Church - Adoption & Foster Care - Adopting Family Profiles - Cooke Family

The Cooke Family

“We adopted our oldest son from Ethiopia. The process has taught us so much. There have been many painful tears but also tears of joy and glimpses of beauty and redemption from the brokenness. We also have two biological sons…We are excited to share that we are currently in the process of adopting again domestically with an organization we are thrilled to partner with, Amazing Grace Adoptions & Orphan Care, in Raleigh, NC. Even though adoption is hard, we believe God has called us to adopt again to put the gospel on display. We were outside the family of God, and because of what Christ has done, we have been grafted into God’s family. As, Lord willing, we bring another child into our family, it is our hope and prayer to see another son or daughter come into the family of God as well.”

The Keeney Family

“There’s a saying in Haiti that goes, ‘Yon jou la jou,’ which translates to, ‘One day will be the day.’ We learned this saying on one of our mission trips to Haiti from 2011-2015. It stuck with us as a beautiful message of hope, a brighter future, and a longing for something better. This hope was one of the many reasons we fell in love with Haiti and the incredible Haitian people. It was clear from the beginning that God had called us to Haiti for a reason, and now that reason is becoming clear…After having two biological children, we decided to take a leap of faith and start the adoption process, and there was no doubt in our minds that we wanted to adopt from Haiti.”

The Payne Family

“Hi! We are David and Katie Payne and we are raising money to fund our adoption. We live in North Carolina with our two-year-old son and are looking forward to bringing another child into our family through international adoption. We have both known for a long time, even before we got married and had our first child, that adoption was something we wanted to do, but we just weren’t sure about the timing and when it would be right for us. With our son, Katie had an extremely painful pregnancy and a slow recovery from a very long labor. She knew she didn’t want to go through that again soon, but we both wanted to continue to grow our family sooner rather than later, so we decided that now was the time to adopt!”
