Students and parents, October is here, and that means one thing: Encounter Weekend! We are right around the corner from our biggest weekend of the semester! Encounter Weekend (October 26th – 28th) is our annual in-house fall retreat for our 5th-12th grade students. The weekend will consist of two events: one for our 5th-8th grade students and the other for our 9th-12th grade students. It will be full of teaching, community, games, food, service, and more. It’s going to be an awesome time, and we decided to give you a sneak peak of what’s going on during this special weekend!
Here are fours things to look forward to during Encounter Weekend:
This weekend’s theme is Treasure, and we will be asking the question, “What do I treasure?” The reality is we all treasure something—whether it is entertainment, our abilities, success, relationships, etc. However, as a student ministry, we long to see students treasure Jesus above all else. Over the span of the weekend, we will be talking about this topic through times of teaching and small group discussions. Also, we will be discussing why and how we are to share such a treasure that we have in Jesus.
Saturday afternoon, from 1:00-3:00pm, our Regional and Edgefield campuses will be hosting separate community events at their individual campuses. Our 9th-12th grade students will have the opportunity to serve our church by volunteering at these events. Though our 5th-8th grade students are not serving at these events, we invite them to join us at each campus.
We are looking forward to having tons of fun with our students! Alongside lots of games and giveaways, we also are inviting a professional illusionist! Brian Saint, the Season Five winner from the show Penn and Teller which airs on the CW, will be coming to perform for our students on Friday night. You don’t want to miss it!
4. College Live
To cap off the weekend, our 7th-12th grade students will be joining our college students at the College Live service! Instead of our 7th-12th grade weekly meetings at Regional and Edgefield, students are invited to our Clifton campus from 6:30 – 8:00 pm. This is going to be an awesome time and a great way to end the weekend!
